The Packwise Smart Cap is a radar sensor for robust and accurate level measurement. In addition, the Smart Cap uses other sensors for temperature, motion and position measurement as well as for location tracking.
Data is transmitted via the NB-IoT, LTE Cat M1 and GSM cellular standards, as well as via WLAN and BLE. The existing mobile networks are sufficient for data transmission. You do not need to make any further arrangements. NB-IoT and LTE Cat M1 enable very energy-efficient data transmission even deep inside buildings. GSM enables data transmission from more remote areas. In any country, the Packwise Smart Cap can dial into the networks of multiple cellular carriers to further increase availability.
The battery life is about 5 years and varies depending on the measurement and transmission interval.
The Packwise Smart Cap can be used with any all-plastic IBC and combi IBC (consisting of plastic inner container and steel cage). Regardless of the manufacturer and container size (600L, 800L, 1,000L), all functions are retained. The Packwise Smart Cap is currently also used for various other container types, such as stainless steel IBCs. Please contact us and we will check the application for your container as well.

Packwise Smart Cap Ex is a battery-powered sensor for level and temperature measurement as well as for locating and determining the position of mobile and stationary liquid containers or their contents in hazardous areas. The transmission of the sensor readings via mobile radio enables the autonomous use of Packwise Smart Cap Ex for remote monitoring.
The Packwise Smart Cap Ex measures and transmits level, temperature, location and movement of liquid containers. The measured values are transmitted encrypted via mobile radio to the Packwise Cloud and displayed in the Packwise Flow web application.
The Packwise Smart Cap Ex is maintenance-free. However, it should be checked regularly for tight fit and damage.
IECEx is an international certification system for explosion-proof electrical equipment. An IECEx approval means that the equipment complies with the international standards for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
ATEX is an EU directive that specifies the requirements for equipment and protective systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. ATEX approval means that the Packwise Smart Cap Ex meets the requirements of the directive and may be used in potentially explosive atmospheres in the EU.
ATEX and IECEx are both certification systems for explosion-proof electrical equipment. The main difference between the two systems is that ATEX certification is only valid for countries in the European Union (EU), while IECEx certification is recognized worldwide.
A manufacturer can choose to have equipment certified to both ATEX and IECEx to facilitate market access both inside and outside the EU. ATEX certification is required for the sale of explosion-proof equipment within the EU, while IECEx certification allows sales in many other countries worldwide.
The Packwise Smart Cap Ex can be used in hazardous areas. These can be areas where flammable gases, vapors, mists or dusts are present, such as in the oil and gas industry, the chemical industry or food processing.
The suitability of a device for use in potentially explosive atmospheres is determined by its approvals and markings. The IECEx and ATEX approvals indicate that the device complies with international and EU standards for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, respectively. The markings provide further information about the specific properties of the device, such as the permissible ambient temperature or the degree of protection against explosions.
This marking indicates that the Packwise Smart Cap is approved for use in Group IIC (gases) and IIIC (dusts) hazardous locations. Temperature class T4 or T135 °C indicates that the surface temperature of the device must not rise above 135 °C. This means that no gases can be ignited which are flammable at a temperature greater than 135 °C. The "Gb" or "Db" marking indicates that the Packwise Smart Cap Ex may be used in zones 1/&2 (gases) and 21/&22 (dusts).
This indicates the permissible ambient temperature range for the Packwise Smart Cap Ex. The device is approved for use at temperatures between -20 °C and +70 °C.
It is the user's responsibility to ensure that Packwise Smart Cap Ex is used in accordance with applicable regulations and standards. The user should check the approvals and markings of the device to ensure that it is suitable for use in the desired environment. The user should also ensure that the equipment is handled by authorized and qualified personnel and that all safety instructions are followed.
ATEX certification is legally binding for distributors of explosion-protected equipment and systems and is valid in and for all 27 EU member states.
IECEx certification is voluntary and is used as a supplementary basis for market access in countries such as North America, Australia, Brazil and many others.
There are five countries that directly recognize the IECEx certificate: Australia ,New Zealand, Singapore, India, Israel.
All regions and countries with an IECEx ExCB are obliged to recognize indirectly through their own certification bodies - sometimes this is even stated in the legislation - Brazil - Customs Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation).
The IP 66/68 certification and high adhesion allow the Smart Cap to remain on the container during the cleaning process. Since cleaning processes vary widely among our customers, we are happy to assist you in evaluating your cleaning process.
